Sarah and Julian’s Maine Elopement at Acadia in Bar Harbor

Join us in congratulating Sarah and Julian! These two were married on the cliffs along the Ocean Path in Maine’s beautiful Acadia National Park. They were joined by their family and friends in a lovely ceremony overlooking Otter Cliff and the great Gulf of Maine. This particular spot along the Ocean Path is one of our favorites for elopements and tiny wedding ceremonies. As you can see from the pictures below, it is flat and open with clear views and plenty of standing room. Even better, it is relatively untrafficked and even has a parking lot nearby!

As fate would have it, Sarah and Julian met by chance on their first day of high school, because they were seated next to each other in homeroom. They built a friendship over the years and eventually started dating by their senior year. Fast forward 10 years, and they were saying their vows on the edge of a cliff in one of the country’s most iconic national parks. I wonder if their teenage selves had any idea what was in store when they sat next to each other for the first time in homeroom?

When they’re not getting married, Sarah and Julian like to travel and explore tiny eateries and street food vendors. They also spend lots of time snuggling their British Shorthair, Mr. Bean. They love national parks, and it’s not surprising that they chose to get married in one.

We had a great time spending the afternoon (and evening) with Sarah and Julian. We were psyched that they were up for adventuring, and we were able to get a lot of different shots because of their willingness to explore a variety of places. We started their day with a photo session near the Jesup Path and Wild Gardens of Acadia. From there, we took pictures along the cliffs after the ceremony and finished the day exploring downtown Bar Harbor. Of course, we’re always able to do our best work and get a greater variety of pictures when we have plenty of time. So, we always encourage couples to make the most of their elopement coverage (like Sarah and Julian) and explore a few spots while getting married in Acadia!
