Rachel and Sean met three years ago, and from the start, their relationship has been built around shared experiences, meaningful places, and a love of the outdoors. Whether they’re spending time with their dogs, enjoying lake days on the boat, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, or simply finding an excuse to be outside, they love doing it all together.
Boston holds a special place in their story, as it’s where their relationship truly began. Their first date was to a Celtics game, and many of their early trips brought them back to the city. When Sean decided it was time to propose, he knew Boston had to be part of the plan. After some research, he found a park along the river with TD Garden in the background and mapped out a walk through several parks, saving the final stop for the proposal. Sean’s brother Tyler and his girlfriend Hannah hid nearby to capture the moment. After Rachel said yes, they celebrated with dinner at The Chart Room (another place full of meaning for them).
When it came time to choose a wedding location, Bar Harbor felt like a natural fit. Their shared love of the outdoors, along with an appreciation for great seafood (especially lobster) made coastal Maine an easy choice. They were drawn to the scenery and classic Maine charm and ultimately chose the Bar Harbor Inn & Spa, as their venue.
We first met Rachel and Sean about a year before their wedding when we photographed their engagement session in Acadia National Park. Knowing they wouldn’t have time to visit Acadia on their wedding day, they planned a dedicated portrait session instead. We spent a relaxed evening exploring the Jesup Path near the Wild Gardens of Acadia and Otter Point and getting to know this wonderful couple better.
Rachel and Sean were married on a beautiful early August day. Wanting to keep things intimate, they invited only their closest family and friends. Their ceremony took place on the Bar Harbor Inn’s lawn and was officiated by our favorite officiant, Rev. Erika Hewitt, who delivered a heartfelt ceremony as always. The celebration continued in the Porcupine Room with a choreographed first dance on the deck that included several impressive lifts. Guests enjoyed great food, wonderful toasts, and a relaxed evening celebrating the newly married couple. Our time with Rachel and Sean wrapped up with portraits around the Inn’s property as the sun set on their wedding day.
It was a pleasure working with Rachel and Sean, from their engagement session in Acadia to their wedding day in Bar Harbor. We wish them many years of happiness, adventure, and time spent outdoors together. Below are some of our favorite images from their beautiful Maine wedding.
