Emily and Matt’s Maine Elopement at Acadia in Bar Harbor

Some couples are simply meant to be together. Case in point: Emily and Matt. These two have already been together for over nine years. They started dating in high school, and, despite living in different states all throughout college, they remained together. They visited each other on weekends and had Skype dates whenever possible. What ever it took. Talk about dedication! Theirs is such sweet and inspirational story. These days, Emily and Matt live together just outside of Chicago with their cat, Camille, and they are as happy as can be.

Recently, Emily and Matt traveled all the way to Maine to get married during a sunset ceremony on the summit of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. Matt proposed to Emily while they were vacationing in Yellowstone National Park. Therefore, it’s fitting that they decided to get married in another national park.

They were joined by their best friends, Lauren and Chris, who traveled with them to celebrate the big moment. It was so much fun watching these four amazing friends. All throughout the day, from the getting ready, to the formals, to the ceremony itself, it was clear that these four care for each other very much. Eloping is always hard, because it means you can’t spend the day with everyone in your life. But, thanks to Lauren and Chris, Emily and Matt were surrounded by plenty of love and support all throughout the day. It was such a beautiful sight.

Matt (my Matt) and I wanted to be sure that Emily and Matt came away from their day with all sorts of pictures. So, before the ceremony, we all spent the afternoon visiting several spots throughout the Park. We took pictures at the Jesup Path, Thunder Hole, and Little Hunter’s Beach before finally making our way up the mountain. We had a great time working with this fantastic couple, as both Emily and Matt were so quick to laugh and have fun. It’s like they were about to get married, or something!

The ceremony itself was gorgeous. Lauren and Chris read letters from family, and Emily and Matt exchanged vows just as the sun started to set. The light atop Cadillac is wonderful that time of evening, which meant we were able to capture panoramic views of Mount Dessert and its surrounding islands.

We had so much fun working with Emily and Matt, and we wish them much happiness now and in the future. Below are some of my favorite pictures from throughout their day. Enjoy!
