Maggie and Michael’s Wedding at Fruitlands Museum in Massachusetts

Congratulations to Maggie and Michael! We first met them about a year before their wedding when we photographed their engagement session at Wells Reserve at Laudholm in Wells, Maine. It didn’t take long to see how natural they were together. They were relaxed, quick to laugh, and completely comfortable in front of the camera. By the end of that session, we were already looking forward to their wedding day.

Their story began in December 2018 on a chaotic trip to New York with mutual friends. Somewhere between the light rain, the long walk to the apartment, and squeezing five people into a two-person space, Michael carried Maggie’s full-size pillow under his jacket so it wouldn’t get wet. It was a small gesture, but it set the tone for the entire weekend. By the time they returned to Massachusetts, they were sitting next to each other at every restaurant and planning their first date.

Michael brought that same level of thoughtfulness to his proposal. He organized a scavenger hunt through Cambridge that led Maggie to the places that have shaped their life together, including their apartments, their rec league soccer field, and the restaurant where they had their first date. The final stop was along the river by the boathouse. The wind ruled out the dock, but a nearby line of cherry blossom trees became the perfect place for him to ask the question.

Maggie and Michael chose Fruitlands Museum in Harvard, Massachusetts, for their wedding venue. They were drawn to the landscape behind the ceremony and reception sites and the chance to spend the entire day outside with their closest friends and family in a setting that feels both open and intimate.

The day began with Maggie getting ready at her family’s home, surrounded by her closest friends and family, while Michael and his side got ready nearby. Once everyone arrived at Fruitlands, we went right into their first look. As soon as they saw each other the nerves were gone, and they couldn’t stop smiling at each other.  After a few portraits around the grounds, guests began to arrive and it was time for the ceremony.

With the Nashua River Valley stretching out behind them, Maggie and Michael exchanged vows in front of their family and friends. It was one of those ceremonies where you could feel how much support they have around them and how excited everyone was to watch them take this next step together.

The evening flowed into heartfelt toasts, great food, and a packed dance floor. Maggie and Michael were at the center of it all, celebrating with the same energy and joy they’ve brought to every stage of their relationship.
