Last September, we had the honor of photographing Sammy and Alec’s wedding at the Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport, Maine. From the beginning, they knew they wanted a coastal New England venue that felt like them, relaxed and welcoming, and somewhere they could return to year after year. After spending time in Kennebunkport, they grew to love the town. The Nonantum’s ocean views and inviting atmosphere made it an easy decision.
We first met Sammy and Alec the year before their wedding during their engagement session at Ship Harbor Trail in Acadia National Park. It didn’t take long to see how natural they are together. They were fun to work with, easygoing, open to ideas, and completely comfortable in front of the camera. We left that session genuinely looking forward to their wedding day.
Their story began in August 2020 when they met on Hinge. Their first date was ice cream at Honeycomb Creamery in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Sitting six feet apart, they bonded over live music, running, cycling, skiing, and their shared admiration for family. By their third date, they combined their COVID bubbles. They have not spent more than a few days apart since.
Alec proposed in March 2024 at the Boston Harbor Hotel, surprising Sammy with a weekend getaway. When they arrived, the room was set with roses and champagne. The next day, Alec arranged for both of their families to be in town for an engagement party, a reflection of how important family has always been in their relationship.
The day of their wedding unfortunately called for rain, and it delivered. Most of the day had to be moved indoors, but before the skies fully opened up, we were able to sneak outside for Sammy and Alec’s first look and a handful of portraits. Despite the looming weather, Sammy and Alec were completely unfazed. They were just happy to be getting married, and it clearly showed.
For the ceremony, guests gathered close as Sammy and Alec exchanged vows. The connection that started over socially distanced ice cream was clear to everyone in the room. The celebration continued into the reception, where heartfelt toasts, plenty of laughter, and a packed dance floor made the gray skies outside easy to forget.
Sammy and Alec were a pleasure to work with, and we are grateful we could be part of their day, even if it came with a little rain. We wish them many years of happiness and laughter. Below are some of our favorite images from their wedding.
