You might remember Bethany and Mike from their wedding in early June at the York Harbor Reading Room in York, Maine. Their wedding day was wonderful, but the weather didn’t cooperate the way everyone had hoped. Because of that, they weren’t able to visit all the locations we had originally planned for their portraits. After the wedding, Bethany reached out to ask if we would be open to doing an after session. The idea was simple: they would get dressed back up in their wedding attire, and we would spend an evening photographing them at several different locations in the area. We always enjoy sessions like this because they allow us to take our time without the pressure of a wedding timeline, so we were very excited to do this for them!
A few weeks later we met up again, and this time we had a beautiful evening. We started the session at the Harley Mason Reserve. The reserve sits right next to the York Harbor Reading Room and is where their ceremony would have taken place if the weather had cooperated, so it was important to them that we begin there before heading to the other locations.
From there we made our way to Long Sands Beach. The beach is especially meaningful to Bethany because her family has a vacation home nearby and she spent many summers there as a child. Later it became a place she shared with Mike, and it quickly became special to him as well.
We finished the session as the sun was setting at Cape Neddick Light, better known as Nubble Lighthouse. Like on their wedding day, Bethany and Mike were a pleasure to work with. They clearly enjoy being together, and this portrait session reminded us of that again. I’m so glad we were able to do this after session for them and help them remember another special day.
