Meghan and Mike’s Wedding at the Maine Teen Camp in Porter

Meghan and Mike were married on Labor Day weekend at the Maine Teen Camp in Porter, Maine. They picked the perfect weekend, not just because the weather was great, but because that’s the same weekend Matt and I chose to get married six years ago! It’s always a blast photographing weddings that weekend, because it reminds us of our own special day. Meghan and Mike’s wedding, in particular, was a lot of fun, and we couldn’t have imagined a better way to celebrate our own anniversary weekend.

Meghan and Mike met while working together at a previous job. Meghan played hard to get for a while, but eventually Mike convinced her to go out after work. It’s been four years now, and they’ve been together ever since!

The Maine Teen Camp is a great place for larger weddings. It has cabins where guests can stay, and it has a huge lodge (read reception hall) overlooking the lake. However, as anyone who’s planned a camp wedding can tell you, it’s a lot of work to turn a camp into a wedding site.

Fortunately, Meghan and Mike had the unending support of their families and friends, especially their parents. Together, they entirely transformed the camp into something really special. Everywhere you looked, from the reception hall, to the patio, to the walking paths, there were decorations. Their families also took on the daunting task of cooking for all the guests. It was truly a labor of love! I was particularly impressed by Meghan’s father’s handiwork. He built the most amazing set of doors leading to the ceremony site, as well as a number of other neat items.

The ceremony took place down by the water. Meghan and Mike were both so cute! Not only did they share vows, but they shared more than a few tears (of joy) too. It was obvious they were overjoyed to be taking this next step together.

The rest of the day was filled with much celebrating. Mike’s son gave the most heartfelt toast, which was followed by dinner and then lots and lots of dancing. This group really knew how to have fun, and Matt and I had a great time photographing all of the excitement.
