Maria and Lee’s Maine Wedding at the Mariner’s Church Banquet Center

Just short of their six year anniversary, Maria and Lee were married on a beautiful winter afternoon at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, a catholic church in Windham, Maine. Family and friends traveled from all over (including Scotland!) to celebrate with this awesome couple, and Matt and I had a great time photographing all of the festivities.

Maria’s matron of honor, Laura, is one of our past wedding clients. I first met Maria at Laura’s wedding, where she was one of Laura’s bridesmaids. And so I was super excited when Maria asked us to photograph her wedding! It was wonderful seeing both her and Laura again!

Because Maria and Lee were married just after the new year, the church was still beautifully decorated in celebration of Christmas. There were red poinsettias all around the altar, and the wedding party was dressed to match! Maria’s bouquet was filled with vibrant red roses, and her bridesmaids wore lovely red dresses. Lee and his groomsmen sported red neckties, and Lee even tied his necktie into a fantastic looking Trinity knot. For all you soon-to-be-grooms out there, take note – the Trinity knot is the perfect way to look great and stand out!

After a very heartfelt mass, everyone made the trip from Windham to the Mariner’s Church Banquet Center in Portland. On the way to the reception, Matt and I stopped at the Eastern Promenade with the happy couple. Although it was early January, it was warm enough for a few pictures down by the water. We arrived just as the sun was beginning to set, and we were treated to a gorgeous sky with such soft pink and blue hues.

Once at the Banquet Center, it was time to party! Maria and Lee had hired Retrospecticus, a very talented live band that kept the energy level up all night. There was dancing, followed by toasts, which was followed by even more dancing. It was a lot of fun, as you can tell by the pictures!
