Lisamarie and Steve’s Maine Wedding at Acadia National Park

Lisamarie and Steve met nine years ago while attending college in Pennsylvania. They were introduced by a mutual friend during art history class and have been together ever since.

In their spare time, these two like to go road tripping and hiking, which helps explain why they chose to get married in Maine. Shortly after graduating college, Lisamarie and Steve took a trip to Acadia National Park. It was one of their first trips together, and they fell in love with the Bar Harbor area. They always knew they wanted a destination wedding, so, when planning their big day, Maine was an easy choice.

The only challenge with a Maine wedding in June is that you never know what the weather will be like. It could be hot and sunny or cold and rainy (or both all in the same day). Unfortunately, on this particular day the forecast called for severe thundershowers starting mid-afternoon. Lisamarie and Steve took it in stride, however, and embraced the old saying that rain brings luck on your wedding day. To avoid as much of the rain as possible, we all agreed to flip the schedule around and start with pictures in the Park, followed by a ceremony indoors later on.

Lisamarie and Steve were so cute together in the Park. They couldn’t stop laughing and smiling, despite the light drizzle, and it was obvious they couldn’t wait to get married. We began by taking pictures all around Jordan Pond. Although it was foggy, you could just barely see the Bubble Mountains peeking out from under the mist. It made for a cozy, romantic feel that was really special. After the Pond, we visited the cliffs near Thunder Hole. By that point, the fog had really rolled in and the rain had picked up. We were so impressed that Lisamarie and Steve were willing to tough it out for some pictures despite the weather. They really earned those shots!

Before long, it was time for the ceremony, so we all headed back to Bar Harbor. There, family and friends were waiting at a house that Lisamarie and Steve had rented. The original plan had called for a ceremony on the rear lawn facing the water, but it was raining too heavily. Fortunately, Lisamarie and Steve have great friends, who helped pull together an impromptu setup on the house’s covered porch. It was there that Lisamarie and Steve were married in lovely (and dry) ceremony. Everyone was so happy for this amazing couple, and, when it was all over, Lisamarie and Steve were definitely sporting some of their biggest smiles all day!

Can’t get enough of Lisamarie and Steve? We don’t blame you! So, while you’re here, don’t forget to check out their engagement session, which we photographed last summer. And, of course, below are some of our favorite pictures from throughout Lisamarie and Steve’s wedding:
