Lisa and Justin’s Wedding at the Mountain House on Sunday River

Lisa and Justin were married in early September at the Mountain House on Sunday River. You might remember this ultra-cute couple from their engagement session at Wolfe’s Neck Farm last spring. I was extremely excited for their special day. One, because they were so much fun to work with and photograph. And two, because they were getting married at a beautiful new venue that I’d been dying to visit.

The Mountain House just opened its doors to weddings in 2014, so it was exciting to be one of the first photographers to work there. This beautiful, 50-acre estate includes the original (restored) main house, a rustic lodge, an open air barn, an apple grove, and a Pine Cathedral. All of this overlooks rolling fields encircled by the Mahoosuc Mountain Range. I’ll admit, this was one of my favorite venues of the season, and it served as an amazing backdrop for Lisa and Justin’s wedding!

The day began with Lisa and her bridesmaids getting ready at the lodge, while Justin and his groomsmen got ready in the main house. Lisa and Justin had decided not to see each other before the ceremony. Instead they both got little gifts for one another, which they sent along with special messages. It was so sweet watching their expressions as they opened the gifts!

It had been forecasted to rain throughout the day, and the sky had grown quite dark by the time the ceremony rolled around. But Lisa and Justin were determined to not let that stop them. They gathered in the Pine Cathedral with their family, friends, and umbrellas. The pines provided some shelter from the rain, and, even though they ended up getting a bit wet, Lisa and Justin persevered and ended up happily married!

Everyone then made a dash for the covered porch nearby. Luckily, the rain didn’t last too long, and we were able to take advantage of the many beautiful photo locations the Mountain House has to offer. We lucked out and even had a double rainbow (see below). As the day progressed, there was much fun to be had with the cake cutting, square dancing, and live music by the Tumbling Bones.

Matt and I had a great time photographing Lisa and Justin’s special day, and I wish them nothing but happiness! Below are some of my favorite pictures from throughout their wedding.
