Laini and Kevin’s Maine Elopement at Acadia National Park

Laini and Kevin first met when Kevin was visiting Laini’s home country, Estonia. Because of the distance, it took a little time and a few more trips before they realized they were perfect for each other. In Laini’s words, “Not even the crazy Covid year could keep us apart!” Kevin proposed on a trip to North-Macedonia, after the two had spent a day kayaking in the Matka Canyon.

With the world seemingly their oyster, you might wonder why Laini and Kevin chose Maine for their elopement. Well, Kevin had visited Maine before and liked it, and he and Laini both really like seafood. They also enjoy visiting different natural parks. So, once they settled on Maine, Acadia National Park was the obvious choice for their elopement. Laini said that as an added bonus, “Maine is also the closest state to my home country, both geographically and nature wise.” Makes sense!

On the big day, the weather was simply beautiful. We met up with Laini and Kevin at the Wild Gardens of Acadia and the Jesup Path for a few pictures before the elopement itself. The leaves were just starting to turn, and the little spots of color made for a lovely backdrop.

The four of us then headed to the Ocean Path for a ceremony overlooking Otter Cliff. We were met by their officiant, Tammy, who did a great job. We not only had the honor of photographing Laini and Kevin’s wedding, we also got to sign their marriage license as the two witnesses! We then celebrated with a cliffside photo session.

It was a pleasure working with this wonderful couple. Kevin is a photographer himself (check out his work here), and we were humbled that he asked us to capture this special day. We wish them both much happiness, and we hope they visit Maine again soon!
