Kerri and Brian’s Wedding at 16 Bay View in Camden, Maine

They say love works in mysterious ways. We’ve worked with many couples over the years, but Kerri and Brian are the first couple we’ve photographed who met each other on the golf course. They both love to golf (it’s an open debate who is the better golfer), and it just so happens that their paths crossed one fateful afternoon while hitting the links. Since that day, they’ve been inseparable. They love taking trips to the ocean, they love skiing, they love eating great food, and, certainly, they love golfing.

Brian proposed to Kerri on the first snowy day of 2017 during a surprise trip to the Boston Public Garden. He got down on one knee and asked Kerri to marry him, not the least bit concerned that he got a bit snowy in the process. Kerri of course said yes, and the next day they celebrated by having brunch with their families.

Kerri and Brian enjoy visiting Maine, so they decided to get married in Camden, a quintessential Maine town with a working harbor. If you’ve never been to Camden, then you owe it to yourself to visit sometime. It has shops, restaurants, harbor tours – everything you’d want in a small Maine town. Because they were having an intimate wedding, Kerri and Brian chose a little-known spot to get married just outside of Camden – the Vesper Hill Children’s Chapel, a non-denominational outdoor chapel.

Kerri’s brother officiated a fun and heartfelt ceremony. While exchanging vows, Kerri and Brian shared stories about how they met and fell in love. As you might imagine, this had everyone laughing and crying before it was over. Somehow, without the other one knowing, Kerri and Brian had each brought their golf balls from the day they met. Clearly, great minds think alike!

After the ceremony, everyone took a trolley ride back to 16 Bay View for the reception. 16 Bay View, a newly renovated hotel in the heart of Camden, offers two reception spaces, one downstairs (for larger weddings) and one upon the rooftop terrace (for intimate weddings). The terrace (known as the View) is normally open to guests for food and cocktails, but wedding clients can reserve it for themselves – and that’s exactly what Kerri and Brian did!

The View offers sweeping views of Camden and Camden Harbor. The weather was lovely on this particular evening, and you really couldn’t have asked for more than dinner and dancing on a rooftop terrace on a warm summer’s night. There were games like corn hole and Connect 4, and Pete Kilpatrick performed beautiful renditions of popular songs.
