Katie and Craig’s Maine Wedding at Stone Mountain Arts Center

Congratulations, Katie and Craig! These two were married this past September during a lovely ceremony at the Stone Mountain Arts Center (SMAC) in Brownfield, Maine. We had such a fun time with this awesome couple and their amazing family and friends!

Katie and Craig met nearly four years ago. They love exploring the outdoors together, and their first date was a hike through Brandywine Falls in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. When it came time to propose, Craig chose the perfect moment. Toward the end of a two week camping trip in Glacier National Park, Katie and Craig took a 16 mile hike through the mountains. Once at the summit, with grand views of Grinnell Glacier and Salamander Glacier off in the distance, Craig popped the question. Katie, of course, said yes, which made for an enjoyable hike back down the mountain.

This was our first time photographing at the Stone Mountain Arts Center in many years, and it was nice to be back. Katie and Craig chose the venue both because of their ties to Maine and because their family members had used the venue in the past and been pleased with it. SMAC is a really cool place for a wedding, with its eclectic décor, Mountain vibe, and unique music history. The venue is owned by Carol Noonan and her husband, Jeff Flagg. Carol is a national recording artist, producer, and singer-songwriter who has created successful concert venue and restaurant right on the edge of the White Mountains. SMAC hosts many acts each concert season, with past performances by the Indigo Girls, Judy Collins, John Hiatt, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and the Neville Brothers, to name a few. With two timber frame barns, SMAC has plenty of space for weddings of up to 140 guests, and it offers an artsy take on the traditional Maine mountain wedding theme.

Katie and Craig’s day was filled with fun and laughter. Their ceremony was officiated by their friend, Revered Heather Kurtz, who put a lovingly personal spin on the proceedings. Once the knot was tied, the happy couple and their guests enjoyed a fabulous dinner put on by the folks at SMAC. And finally, the perfect day was capped with hours of contra dancing that lasted well into the night. Erica Brown and the Bluegrass Connection fiddled the night away, with John McIntyre doing a great job as caller.

We had a wonderful time spending the day with Katie and Craig, and we wish them nothing but happiness now and in the future. Below are some of our favorite pictures from throughout their wedding. Take a look!
