Jess and Nate’s Wedding at Camp Mataponi in Naples, Maine

They say rain brings good luck on your wedding day. If so, then Jess and Nate will have a very long and happy life together, because they had more than their fair share of rain when they were married at Camp Mataponi this past September. Despite the rain, however, these two never let the wet weather dampen their spirits, and they made their wedding day one to remember.

Jess and Nate chose to get married in Maine because they’re both originally from the state. Nate was best friends with Jess’s brother growing up, and both Jess and Nate had crushes on each another for years. Jess would get so excited whenever Nate would come visit her brother, and she would use any excuse she could to go visit him. However, neither Jess nor Nate confessed how they felt until the night Jess graduated from high school.

From that point onward, Jess and Nate were together. Of course, they weren’t always physically together, because Nate joined the Air Force shortly after he and Jess started dating. Nate spent much of the next six years in Texas and California, while Jess attended dental hygiene school in Maine. However, these two soulmates made the long-distance relationship work, and they developed a number of traditions that they shared whenever Nate would visit home.

One of those traditions was to light off fireworks each summer. Well, in the summer of 2016, on Jess’s birthday, Nate proposed just as they were supposed to light off the first round of fireworks together. Can you think of a better birthday present? Jess couldn’t, and she immediately said, “Yes!”

It’s no wonder that, after learning how to deal with the stress of a long-distance relationship, Jess and Nate had no problem dealing with a bit of rain on their big day. At first, it looked as though the rain might hold off. But just as Jess started to walk down the aisle, the sky opened up. To their credit, Jess and Nate weren’t phased, and they went forward with the ceremony as though things were bright and sunny. Even though the weather was a bit foul, Jess and Nate had the most happy, glowing expressions as they said their vows. Now they have a story to tell whenever they talk about their wedding!

The rest of the day was filled with food and dancing, a little bit of mayhem, and a lot of merriment. Jess wore two dresses, one for the ceremony and one for the reception, so we were sure to get pictures of both. As the night wore on, Jess and Nate lit up the dance floor, showing off some pretty snazzy moves and putting most of their guests to shame.
