Jess and Jamal’s Maine Wedding at the Bar Harbor Regency

On a beautiful summer’s day, the type of day that really shows what Maine is all about, Jess and Jamal were married. It was a loving celebration of their nine years together, and it was a promise of all the great days and experiences yet to come.

These two met while attending the University of Maine. Though Jess is originally from Maine, Jamal was matriculating from away. During the summers, they would visit Bar Harbor to escape from college life, explore, and have fun. Jess had grown up visiting Bar Harbor, camping in and around Acadia National Park, and so the island already had a special place in her heart. Eventually, Jamal grew to love the area as much as Jess, and it was only natural that they would someday get married there.

When it came time to propose, Jamal did it right. He knew that Christmas is Jess’ favorite holiday. So, in December of 2017, he took Jess out for a night on the town in New York City. As you surely know, Rockefeller Center is always decked out for the holidays, and, when they reached the giant Christmas Tree, Jamal got on one knee and popped the question. Jess of course said yes!

Now, I’m not sure whether this was intentional or not, but Jess and Jamal chose to get married at the Stone House at the Bar Harbor Regency. The Stone House is a beautiful stone building fashioned in the same Tudor style as the gate lodges of Acadia National Park, which were commissioned by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Coincidence?

The ceremony was beautiful, and Jess and Jamal couldn’t stop laughing and smiling the whole time. They carried that same joy and excitement with them all throughout the day, and we had so much fun photographing their wedding. They had so many great pictures from throughout their day, it was hard picking our favorites to share. We finally managed, so take a look below!
