Tari and Ian’s Maine Wedding at Stone Mountain Arts Center

Meet Ian and Tari! You might remember this cute couple from their engagement session, which Matt and I photographed last spring at Acadia National Park. Ian and Tari were married on a lovely fall day in late October, just as the leaves were beginning to change color. The days leading up to the wedding had been rainy, so we were all extremely excited when the weather turned out to be beautiful for their big day.

Ian and Tari wanted something different for their wedding, which led them to choose the Stone Mountain Arts Center in Brownfield, Maine. The Stone Mountain Arts Center is a beautiful timber-framed music hall where many nationally-known acts perform throughout the year. Attached to the music hall is a 200 year old barn, the Quisisana Barn, and just down the road are several rolling fields with views of the White Mountains. All of this made for such an amazing and fun wedding backdrop!

The day started with the guys arriving first. They played pool, listened to music, and joked around while getting ready. Once they were looking all snazzy, Matt took them down to Beulah’s barn (another nearby barn) for formals.

While the guys were off getting their pictures taken, Tari arrived with her sister and mother. The three of them helped each other get ready and rocked out to the “Dirty Dancing” soundtrack. Everyone had a great time, and Tari was so happy!

Soon it was time for the ceremony. Ian and Tari had decided not to see each other before the ceremony, and it was really sweet to watch their expressions as they saw each other for the first time. They had written their own vows, which were full of personality and humor. I’m pretty sure Tari laughed through most of hers!

During cocktail hour, we took Ian and Tari back down the road to Beulah’s for pictures with just the two of them. These newlyweds were all smiles and laughter, and they made our job extremely easy. On the way back, we stopped at a field overlooking the mountains. The sun had just begun to set, and the view was amazing!

When we returned, it was time for the reception. Because Ian and Tari were both in medical school at the time, they had decided to go with a medical theme for their reception details. Their guestbook was an engraved lab note book, and they numbered their tables with diagrams of the different parts of the nervous system. I really liked how different and unique their theme was! Their flowers and centerpieces were equally unique and fun, incorporating all sorts of succulents. I just loved Tari’s bouquet, and it was probably one of the most unique bouquets that Matt and I had seen all season.

After a tasty dinner and lots of great toasts, everyone headed over to the Quisisana Barn for cake and dancing. One of Tari’s brothers was the DJ, and the guests completely partied the night away.
