Candace and Rusty first met in 2021 at a party while Candace was visiting a friend in Portland, Maine. What began as a casual conversation stretched late into the night—long enough that Candace missed her ride home. Rusty happily offered to drive her back. After Candace returned to Boston, Rusty wasted no time inviting her to a Bruins playoff game the very next evening. Not long after, the two made things official. Candace eventually moved to Maine, and together they began building a life they love. In their free time, they can often be found boating on Rusty’s work skiff, the Candy Cane, attending lobster boat races, or spending time with Rusty’s daughter, Charlotte, and their dog, Biscuit.
This past February, Rusty proposed while snowmobiling with friends in Jackman, Maine. He chose a scenic overlook, though plans to stick around for sunset were cut short by minus 11 degree temperatures and strong winds. The moment was sealed with a quick champagne toast before everyone headed back to camp.
Candace and Rusty chose the Newagen Seaside Inn in Southport, Maine, for their wedding. The historic inn sits at the edge of a wooded peninsula that stretches nearly five miles into the ocean, offering the classic Maine atmosphere they were hoping for. Overlooking the Boothbay Harbor region, it was the perfect setting for their day.
Their wedding couldn’t have been more beautiful. We arrived as Candace was getting ready with her bridesmaids, while Matt later joined Rusty and his groomsmen. Before long, guests gathered on the lawn overlooking the harbor for the ceremony. After exchanging vows and taking portraits along the water, Candace and Rusty celebrated with their friends and family in the Inn’s ballroom.
Family means everything to Candace and Rusty, and that was reflected throughout the day. Charlotte and Biscuit played meaningful roles in the celebration, and one of our favorite moments was the father-daughter dance between Rusty and Charlotte. It was truly a pleasure photographing Candace and Rusty’s wedding at the Newagen Seaside Inn. We wish them, along with Charlotte and Biscuit, a lifetime of happiness and many memorable days along the Maine coast. Below are some of our favorite images from their wedding day.
