Amy and Luke’s Maine Wedding at the Atlantic Oceanside in Bar Harbor

Earlier in the summer, we had the wonderful opportunity to photograph Amy and Luke’s wedding at the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel & Event Center in Bar Harbor, Maine. The weather was beautiful (despite the occasional rain shower), and we were so excited to capture such an amazing day!

Amy and Luke moved to Maine three years ago after attending optometry school in Boston. Luke grew up in Maine, but Amy is from Ohio. They chose Bar Harbor to get married, because it was the first place they visited when Luke took Amy to Maine for the first time. They also enjoy taking day trips to Acadia National Park, which is right nearby. So, Bar Harbor holds a special place in their hearts.

Speaking of national parks, Amy and Luke have visited seven of them together, including Acadia. They love traveling, and they’ve visited 22 states in total. On one of their more memorable adventures, they took a cross-country road trip from Maine to Wyoming and slept in a tent every night! They plan to honeymoon in Italy this fall, and we have to admit that we’re just a little bit jealous.

Luke popped the question during a return trip to Boston. Back when they were in school, Amy and Luke had all sorts of things they would do together, such as visiting Faneuil Hall Marketplace, ice skating on the frog pond, and walking through the commons. Well, during this trip, after having re-experienced a bunch of their old haunts, Amy and Luke were standing on the Boston Public Garden suspension bridge reminiscing about their adventures together. Before long, they started dreaming about the future that was to come, and it was then that Luke dropped to one knee and proposed. Amy of course said yes, adding another great memory to their long list of Boston memories.

On their wedding day, Amy and Luke were joined in their celebration by a great many family and friends. The Atlantic Oceanside is a sizeable venue, but it was nearly full to capacity, as people had come from all over to share in Amy and Luke’s big day. We had a lot of fun capturing all of the revelry, and we loved working with Amy and Luke in particular. They were so happy together, and they just couldn’t stop laughing, which resulted in lots of great pictures. Many of our favorites are below, so check them out!
