Congratulations, Amanda and Jason! These two were married just a few weeks ago during a beautiful, self-directed ceremony at the Vesper Hill Children’s Chapel in Rockport, Maine.
Though neither Amanda nor Jason are originally from Maine, they now live together in Portland. They chose to get married in the Camden area, because the Maine coast has special meaning to the two of them. During their first summer together, Amanda would drive up the coast to visit Jason, and they would spend time hiking and exploring the outdoors. Amanda and Jason love the outdoors and they love the coast, so they wanted a bit of each on their wedding day.
Amanda and Jason have a really cool engagement story. They were vacationing in Iceland, and they had each planned to propose on the trip. Jason managed to ask first, on a mountaintop after a long hike. Amanda of course said yes. Then, when they returned to their camp, Amanda presented Jason with a letter she had written before leaving for the trip. You know it’s meant to be when two people are prepared to propose at the same time!
Speaking of meant to be – during the ceremony, all it took was one look at Amanda and Jason’s happy faces to know just how much these two love and care for each other. Rather than have an officiant, Amanda and Jason chose to lead their own wedding ceremony, which included stories about their time together. They also wrote up questions for family and friends to ask them, which was a lot of fun (and quite informative). By the end, everyone was laughing (or crying) and ready to celebrate!
After the ceremony, we borrowed the happy couple for pictures in the Camden Harbor Park and Ampitheatre. Amanda and Jason were so quick to laugh, and they made our jobs easy! From there, everyone went to Natalie’s Restaurant for cocktails and dinner.
We had a lot of fun spending the day with Amanda and Jason, and it was a pleasure getting to photograph their wedding. We wish them much happiness together. Below, you can see some of our favorite pictures from throughout the day. Until next time!
