Alana and Brady’s Wedding at the Ocean Gateway in Portland, Maine

Congratulations, Alana and Brady! These two were married on a beautiful summer’s day in Portland, Maine at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, followed by a reception at the Ocean Gateway. Alana would tell you that her favorite day ever was the day Brady proposed during a picnic with their dog, Munch, on the Eastern Promenade. It was a wonderful surprise followed by dinner with family at a nearby brewery. But as wonderful as that day was, we suspect Alana might now have a new favorite day – unless of course you can have more than one favorite day. Who’s to say you can’t?

Living in Portland, Alana and Brady knew they wanted to get married in the city. When they toured the Ocean Gateway, they immediately fell in love with its upscale industrial look and its proximity both to the water and to green spaces like the Eastern Promenade. The Gateway is a large venue with the ability to accommodate a sizeable guest list, which made it the perfect choice for Alana and Brady’s reception.

For their ceremony, Alana and Brady felt it was important to have a traditional Catholic service, with the added bonus that they wouldn’t have to worry about alternate rain plans. It was a lovely service, and the Cathedral is a beautiful space in which to photograph.

Family is the most important thing to Alana, and that was obvious all throughout her wedding day. From the moment her day started, she was surrounded by loved ones helping and caring for her every step of the way. To show her gratitude, Alana in the months leading up to the wedding painstakingly hand made individualized gifts for each guest, consisting of dried flowers encased in clear acrylic. She also created custom escort cards for everyone, with personalized phrases and/or nicknames. When you have over 150 guests, that takes a lot of effort and A LOT of love! But Alana wouldn’t have had it any other way. It was important to her that every person in attendance knew how welcome and special they were.

Alana and Brady’s day went off without a hitch, thanks to Heather and her team at Black Tie Catering & Events. It was such a pleasure working with Black Tie to help make Alana and Brady’s day the best day ever, and we would highly recommend them.

Alana and Brady are such wonderful people, and we wish them a lifetime of happiness together.
