Meet Mary and Paul, one of our amazing 2014 wedding couples. Matt and I had the pleasure of photographing their engagement session in Bar Harbor this past December. Actually, the session turned out to be a bit of a tour of downtown Bar Harbor, as we traveled to all sorts of locations! Despite the cold, these two did a fantastic job not letting it show. It was obvious throughout the entire session that Mary and Paul love being together, and they definitely kept each other warm, which helped!
We started the session at the La Rochelle Mansion & Museum. Their beautiful property majestically overlooks the water, and it added a nice bit of architecture to our shoot. It’s a lovely spot, and we were really thankful that they let us use their grounds!
From there, we moved on to the Jesup Memorial Library, a community library near downtown Bar Harbor. It was the perfect opportunity to get in from the cold and let Mary show off her cute blue cocktail dress! The Library, too, has some unique architecture and (you guessed it) lots of books! We were very thankful for the use of their facility!
Rejuvenated from having been indoors, we made our way around downtown Bar Harbor. The park was beautifully decorated for the holidays, and everything was so quiet compared to the summer months. Eventually, we headed down to the harbor itself. A number of fishing boats were coming in for the day, and the backdrop truly was quintessential Maine! We finished off their session with a few photographs near the Bar Harbor Inn.
Matt and I were so grateful that Mary and Paul were willing to brave the cold with us! As a result, we were able to get a set of really cute, fun, and diverse photographs. We had literally just gotten back to the cars when the freezing rain started, so I guess we were lucky!
