Chelsea and Mike met five years ago. Since then, they’ve enjoyed exploring new experiences and staying active together. Lately, Mike has been introducing Chelsea to live theater across the Northeast, while Chelsea has encouraged Mike to take part in half marathons. No matter the activity, Mike says they “cherish the time they spend together.”
When it came time to propose, Mike knew he wanted to do it during a special hike he and Chelsea created during their first trip to Acadia National Park. The route, which links several distinct trails, spans about 7.5 miles, crosses two mountain peaks, and offers incredible views. This hike is now a tradition they enjoy every year.
On the day of the proposal, Mike kept an eye out for the perfect spot. Around mile six, they reached a quiet pool beneath a hidden waterfall, with no one else in sight. Mike knew immediately that this was the place. Nervous and careful not to drop the ring, he got down on one knee and asked the question. Chelsea immediately knelt beside him and kissed him. Mike, a little unsure, asked, “So… is that a yes? You didn’t really answer.” Chelsea laughed and said, “Of course it’s a yes!”
Since Chelsea and Mike got engaged in Acadia National Park and have a special connection to the Bar Harbor area, they decided to explore it as their possible wedding location. While they were in town touring venues, we were able to meet up for their engagement session.
We started their portrait session at Jordan Pond. Since the park had just reopened, it was nearly empty, which made for a very private session. We had a great time getting to know Chelsea and Mike and capturing many moments around the pond. Next, we headed to a scenic spot near Otter Cliff for a completely different look. They were a joy to photograph, and it was clear how much they love being together.
Chelsea and Mike ultimately decided to have their wedding in Bar Harbor at the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel & Event Center, and we’re excited to photograph them again this coming September!
Below are some of our favorite moments from their Acadia National Park engagement session. Enjoy!
